Venue data for vending operators
Attractions & Data Ranking
Most lists of vending locations rank by assertion; this one multiplies venue-reported traffic by published visit lengths and prints the sample size behind every row.
Report
Every venue in this dataset is reachable by road from another. Hawaii is the one state where that is false, and no figure in the record accounts for it.
Report
Idaho is not an empty state with full neighbours. It is the middle of the largest unworked area in the dataset — 1,300 miles of blank between the Pacific and the Plains.
Report
Peru and Hillsboro are the same venue category in the same state signed in the same fortnight. On captive time one is ten times the other.
Report
Delaware is small. Colorado sits in a blank region. Indiana is neither — it is a large state ringed by activity that stopped at the border.
Report
Iowa sits on the boundary between the worked Midwest and the blank plains. Wisconsin has seven placements; Nebraska, Minnesota and South Dakota have none.
One venue type per file: who visits, how long they stay, who signs the agreement and which machine fits.
About this journal
Dwell Time is a data journal about vending locations in recreation and attraction venues. We publish venue-by-venue numbers, the methods behind them and the decisions they point to.
Every figure carries its source and its date, venue-reported numbers are labeled as such, and every data story prints its method and sample size.
