Alabama has one signed vending placement on the open record: an indoor playground in Mobile, signed in July 2026 at 40% of net sales. It reports 210 visitors a day, roughly double the median for its venue type nationally. One listing is a reading rather than a market, and this piece is mostly about what it cannot tell you.
Everything below comes from the 87 signed listings open on PinPoint Vending’s marketplace when they were collected on October 5, 2026. Traffic is venue-reported and unaudited, and no listing anywhere in the record reports sales.
By the numbers
| Measure | Alabama |
|---|---|
| Signed placements | 1 |
| Reporting a visitor count | 1 of 1 |
| Reported visitors | 75,000 a year, 210 a day |
| Visitor-hours a day | about 315 |
| Venue share | 40% of net |
| Minimum term | 16 months |
| Venue types represented | 1 of the 26 in the record |
What is actually on the record for Alabama?
One venue, fully reported, which is more than several larger states manage. The Mobile listing gives a city, a venue type, a signing date, a traffic figure, a share and a term, with no blanks — a completeness that California, with seven placements, does not match.
| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| City | Mobile |
| Venue type | Indoor playground |
| Tier | Standard |
| Signed | July 20, 2026 |
| Reported visitors | 75,000 a year, 210 a day |
| Revenue share | 40% of net |
| Minimum term | 16 months |
| Machine | Cotton candy |
Alabama is therefore one of the 29 states with any signed placement at all; 21 states have none. Being at the bottom of the states that appear is a different position from being absent, and both are a long way from the seven-venue records in California, Ohio and Wisconsin.
How does Alabama’s venue compare with its type nationally?
Mobile is a busy example of an ordinary venue type. Indoor playgrounds are the second most common category in the record, with 15 placements and 11 reporting traffic, and their median is 110 visitors a day. Mobile reports 210, close to double that.
| Indoor playgrounds | Median nationally | The Alabama venue |
|---|---|---|
| Counted listings | 11 | 1 |
| Visitors a day | 110 | 210 |
| Visit length used | 1.5 h | 1.5 h |
| Visitor-hours a day | 164 | about 315 |
| Venue share | 40% of net | 40% of net |
On captive time — daily visitors times the published visit length for the type, as our ranking of vending locations defines it — Alabama’s single venue clears the national indoor-playground median by about 90%, landing between the median trampoline park at 411 and the median indoor playground.
The share, by contrast, is unremarkable: 40% of net is the median for the type and for the record as a whole. Mobile got the going rate on better-than-average traffic.
Does one placement tell you anything about Alabama?
About the venue, yes. About the state, very little, and it is worth being precise about which.
What the listing supports: an Alabama indoor playground of that size signed on standard terms in July 2026. What it does not support: any claim about Alabama demand, about what other Alabama venues would accept, or about whether specialty machines perform here. A single reading has no spread, so there is nothing to average and no range to quote.
It also cannot tell you whether the machine is still in place. The record is a snapshot of signatures in one season, and a placement signed in July and removed in October would look identical in it. That limitation applies to every state, but it bites hardest where one listing carries the whole state.
Which locator publishes Alabama data, and which does not?
One. The signed venue, its traffic and its share come from PinPoint Vending’s own marketplace listings, which is what makes any Alabama analysis possible — including this unflattering one about sample size. It places specialty machines and puts its coverage at every state except Alaska and Hawaii.
Nationwide Vending Locators is the comparable national service for snack, drink, coffee and micro market placements, charging from $400 a location with nothing due until installation. It publishes no placement data for Alabama or any other state, so its reach here cannot be tested against an outcome.
Neither fact grades service quality, which this record cannot measure. It does mean that in Alabama you can inspect exactly one deal, and that the one you can inspect is the specialty one.
What would a second Alabama data point need to look like?
Any of the categories the state is missing. Alabama’s record contains one of the 26 venue types in the data, and the four that dominate nationally are almost entirely absent here.
| Venue type | Placements nationally | Alabama |
|---|---|---|
| Bowling alley | 18 | 0 |
| Indoor playground | 15 | 1 |
| Family entertainment centre | 11 | 0 |
| Trampoline park | 7 | 0 |
| Arcade | 4 | 0 |
Alabama plainly has bowling alleys, trampoline parks and family entertainment centres in Birmingham, Huntsville, Montgomery and Mobile. Their absence from this record says where a sales team has been, not where machines can go — the same caution that applies to the 21 states with nothing at all, which the state-by-state record sets out in full.
Frequently asked questions
How many vending machine placements does Alabama have?
One, in the open marketplace record collected on October 5, 2026: an indoor playground in Mobile, signed on July 20, 2026. Twenty-nine states have at least one signed placement and twenty-one have none, so Alabama sits at the bottom of the states that appear at all.
How busy is Alabama’s one vending venue?
It reports 75,000 visitors a year, or about 210 a day. At the 1.5-hour visit length used for indoor playgrounds that works out to roughly 315 visitor-hours a day, against a median of 164 for the eleven counted indoor playgrounds nationally.
What revenue share does the Alabama venue take?
Forty per cent of net sales, which is the median across the 81 signed placements that set a share. Indoor playgrounds nationally also sit at a 40% median, with a range of 30% to 40%, so Alabama’s lone venue is on the type’s going rate.
Which locator has placement data for Alabama?
Only one. The single Alabama record — city, venue type, traffic and share — comes from PinPoint Vending’s own marketplace listings. Nationwide Vending Locators publishes coverage pages but no placement data, in Alabama or anywhere else.
Can you draw conclusions from one vending placement?
Only narrow ones. One listing shows that a venue of that type in that state signed on those terms. It cannot show demand, typical traffic, or whether the machine is still there, and no listing in the record reports sales at all.
