State Data Report

Vending machine locations in Washington, by the numbers

A one-row state record is usually a dead end. Washington’s row carries every field the dataset uses, and the nearest other placement is 700 miles away.

Washington has one signed placement, and it is one of the more complete rows in the file: a count, a share and a venue type that converts. Only 43 of the 87 listings carry all three. Kennewick’s indoor playground reports 140 visitors a day and works out to about 210 visitor-hours.

Figures below come from the 87 signed listings open on PinPoint Vending’s marketplace on October 5, 2026, covering 29 states. Traffic is venue-reported and unaudited; no listing reports sales.

Nothing is withheld in that row, which is less common than it reads: 69 of the 87 placements report a visitor count and 81 state a share, so an eighth of the file is missing traffic and a fourteenth is missing a price.

A one-row record that still converts

Kennewick works out to roughly 210 visitor-hours a day — 140 visitors at the 1.5-hour visit length used for indoor playgrounds — against a category median of 164 across the eleven playgrounds that report a count.

Kennewick ranks joint fourth of the eleven, so Washington’s lone venue sits in the upper half of its own category rather than at either extreme. The arithmetic behind the conversion is in our ranking of vending locations, which also explains why indoor playgrounds rank fourth of the four measurable types: a short visit length caps the exposure a busy room can produce.

Its 40% is the national median exactly. So the whole Washington record amounts to one honest, mid-category, median-priced listing — which is a better basis for comparison than several incomplete ones.

The indoor playground is how a state gets its first listing

Eight states in this record hold exactly one placement, and four of those eight are indoor playgrounds — Alabama, Maryland, Oklahoma and Washington, each at 40% of net.

Six of the eight convert, and the two that do not fail for different reasons — Missouri reports no count, North Carolina sits in a category with no published visit length. A reader comparing thin state records should notice that a single listing is not automatically useless; what makes it useless is a missing field or an unmeasurable category.

Washington’s row is the fifth-busiest of those eight and one of the six usable ones, which is a respectable position for a state with one machine on the board.

Washington is one of two western states with anything at all

Every state between the Rockies and the Pacific is empty except California and Washington. Oregon, Idaho, Nevada, Utah, Montana, Wyoming, Arizona, Colorado and New Mexico hold no placements between them.

Two consequences follow for a Washington reader. The nearest placement outside the state is in northern California, more than 700 miles from Kennewick, so there is no regional comparison to fall back on — and inside Washington the one listing sits about 200 miles from Seattle, on the dry side of the Cascades, so it is not a Puget Sound benchmark either.

Alaska and Hawaii are the only states excluded from the locator’s stated coverage. The rest of this empty western block is inside it and unplaced, which vending machine locations by state sets out state by state.

What a second Washington placement would settle

Whether the Puget Sound metros price differently from the Columbia Basin. On Census Bureau estimates Washington is among the fifteen most populous states, and the record holds one venue in a city of about 85,000 — so the state’s entire evidence base comes from outside its population centre.

A Seattle, Tacoma or Spokane listing in any of the three deep categories — bowling alley, family entertainment centre or trampoline park — would give Washington a second rankable row and a real in-state range. Until then, what the revenue-share data shows across all 87 placements is the wider context for a single 40% data point.

Frequently asked questions

How many vending machine placements does Washington have?

One in the record collected on October 5, 2026: an indoor playground in Kennewick, signed July 20, 2026 at 40% of net and reporting 50,000 visitors a year.

How does the Kennewick venue convert?

To about 210 visitor-hours a day, from 140 visitors at the 1.5-hour visit length used for indoor playgrounds. The category median is 164 across eleven counted playgrounds.

Is one listing enough to be useful?

More than usual here. Washington’s single row carries a visitor count, a stated share and a venue type with a published visit length — all three, which only 43 of the 87 listings do.

How isolated is it?

Severely. Washington and California are the only states west of the Rockies with any placement, so the nearest listing outside Washington is more than 700 miles from Kennewick.

What share did it agree?

Forty per cent of net, which matches the national median across the 81 placements that state a figure and matches every other single-listing state except North Carolina.

Next step

Use Kennewick as a category comparison rather than a state average, because one listing at 210 visitor-hours tells you where an above-median indoor playground priced out and nothing about what a Seattle venue would agree. Then treat the whole western block as unpriced: nine states around Washington have no placement at all, so the nearest reference point is more than 700 miles away.
