State Data Report

Vending machine locations in New York, by the numbers

Most states repeat themselves. New York repeats nothing: six venues, six categories, three kinds of machine and one convertible listing.

New York holds the most varied state record in the dataset and the least comparable one. Six listings, six venue types, three machine types — and only one of the six can be placed on a captive-time ranking.

Figures below come from the 87 signed listings open on PinPoint Vending’s marketplace on October 5, 2026. Traffic is venue-reported and unaudited; no listing reports sales.

What is on the record for New York

Six venues, no two of a kind, signed across ten weeks.

All six took the standard tier, so none reported the 100,000 annual visitors premium requires. Two of the venue types — the haunted attraction and the kids centre — appear exactly once in the whole record, which means each is its own category of one.

The machine mix is New York’s distinctive feature

Across all 87 placements the machine field records cotton candy 80 times, flexible six times and drink and snack once. New York holds four of the cotton candy, the single drink and snack placement, and one of the six flexible ones — the only state where all three appear.

Machine typePlacements nationallyVenue kindsShares
Cotton candy80Mostly destination venues30% to 50%, median 40%
Flexible6All pass-through venues50% in every case
Drink and snack1An indoor playgroundNot stated

The flexible pattern is the cleanest in the dataset: six placements, six pass-through venues — two malls, two electronics stores, a retail site and a filling station — and six agreements at 50% of net. New York’s Jackson Heights listing is one of them.

The single drink and snack placement is the opposite of informative. Farmingdale reports no visitor count and no share, so the one listing in the record that would say what a conventional snack machine agrees to says nothing at all.

Why only one New York listing can be ranked

Because the conversion needs two inputs and New York is short of both. Turning footfall into hours of exposure requires a reported visitor count and a published average visit length for the venue type — the method behind our ranking of vending locations — and only five of the 26 types in this record have the second.

New York venueCount reported?Visit length published?Rankable
Marcellus (bowling alley)Yes, 55 a dayYes, 2.7 hYes — about 149 visitor-hours
Manorville (haunted attraction)Yes, 120 a dayNoNo
Jamaica (kids centre)Yes, 41 a dayNoNo
Blasdell (indoor playground)NoYes, 1.5 hNo
Farmingdale (indoor playground)NoYes, 1.5 hNo
Jackson Heights (retail)NoNoNo

One of six, and it is the smallest venue of the three that report traffic. At about 149 visitor-hours a day Marcellus sits in the bottom third of the 44 convertible listings nationally.

So New York has six placements and effectively no measurable presence — a different failure from Missouri, where a single listing reports no traffic, and from New Jersey, where all three report traffic and none of their categories has a visit length.

The share pattern, and the one real outlier

New York’s five stated shares average 38% of net, the lowest figure for any state with four or more. Across the full record, 55 of 87 agreed 40%, twelve agreed 50%, eleven 30%, two 35% and one 45%.

Two of New York’s are at 30%, and only one of those is surprising.

VenueShareCategory context
Marcellus, bowling alley30%Seven of eighteen bowling alleys agreed below 40%
Blasdell, indoor playground30%One of fifteen — the only indoor playground below 40%

Bowling alleys come out low everywhere in this dataset, which makes Marcellus a category effect rather than a New York one. Blasdell is the genuine anomaly: twelve of the thirteen indoor playgrounds that state a share took 40%, and nothing in the Blasdell listing — which reports no visitor count — distinguishes it. What the revenue-share data shows across all 87 placements works through what the shares do and do not track.

What is missing from New York’s record?

Trampoline parks and family entertainment centres, and most of the state. New York shows nothing from either category, and those two plus bowling alleys and indoor playgrounds supply 44 of the 87 national placements.

Geographically the six split into three clusters with large gaps between them: two in New York City, two on Long Island, and two upstate about 150 miles apart near Syracuse and Buffalo. Rochester, Albany, Yonkers and the Westchester suburbs appear nowhere. Vending machine locations by state shows where every state stands.

Frequently asked questions

How many vending machine placements does New York have?

Six in the record collected on October 5, 2026, across six different venue types: a bowling alley, two indoor playgrounds, a haunted attraction, a kids centre and a retail site.

What makes New York’s record unusual?

Its variety. New York is the only state containing all three machine types in the dataset — cotton candy, drink and snack, and flexible — and two of its venue types appear nowhere else.

How many New York listings can be ranked?

One. Only the Marcellus bowling alley has both a reported visitor count and a published visit length for its category, converting to about 149 visitor-hours a day.

What is the New York average share?

Thirty-eight per cent of net across the five listings that state a figure — the lowest of any state with four or more. Two agreed 30%, two 40% and one 50%.

Which New York figure is the genuine outlier?

Blasdell. It is the only one of the record’s fifteen indoor playgrounds to agree below 40%, and the twelve others that state a share all took 40%.

Next step

Treat New York as six separate data points rather than a state figure. Its 38% average is produced by two unusually low deals in different categories, only one listing can be ranked on captive time, and the single drink-and-snack placement in the whole dataset — which sits in New York — reports neither traffic nor terms.
